Got the best spot ever, only 2 min by foot away from the National Park and 5 min from the town centre!
work was really easy, too: mostly cooking and baking (tons of banana bread and banana muffins, because Lesley had got 2 big 2$ boxes of bananas.. ;), preparing a party...
really enjoyed my stay, was like home (helping a little bit in the household...)

We (i celebrated with Gemma and Carlie, two friends from England and Herb ;) from Austria) decided not to go too close to the centre, in order to get a good spot, that would not be too busy. So we ended up in Waverton at 3 pm, a really nice spot with a great view. Could have gotten there a lot later, but it was worth it watiting for and we had a good time with loads of food ^^. The first fireworks were already at 9pm, so it shortened the waiting time a little bit. After that there was kind of a countdown: every hour they lit some fireworks and at 11.30 as well! That was cool!
The fireworks themselves are amazing of course, especially the Harbour Bridge is simply beautiful! Really had a great New Year's, the best one ever !!!!! :)]]>

http://www.mymapblog.com/connie/12_12_09/weirdest_place_for_fundraisinsg_ever!!!/Hobart: Roadtrip
rented a car with Katrin and Hannah from my team and Rich, Mike and Mr. Norway (Christian) took their car (they had been in my team before as well).
day 1: start at around 11.30
made our way to the Glowworm Cave near Mole Creek: a really nice and big cave with many stalagtites and -mites ;), a big cathedral part where our tourguide sang a song for us to show us the effect! :)
as the name says, there were glowworms in there as well, really nice to see them in the pitch blackness
drive through nice scenery towards Cradle Mountain where we checked onto the campsite.
walking around at dusk while spotting wallabies, oppossums, wombats and other wildlife
highlight: me and Katrin saw a Tasmania Devil, which are almost extinct and you usually only see them in the zoo but we saw one crossing our way when we went to the bathroom!!!! :)
the night itself was freezing cold, was really glad to share a 2 man tent with 2 more people which made it bearable (and the hot shower in the morning which brought us all back to life!!!)
day 2: Cradle Mountain, the most popular mountain in Tassie:
us girls were walking around Dove Lake with the Mountain in the background, the guys went up Marions lookout
really nice scenery, lovely picture spots!!!
evening: drive to Strahan, were we did wildcamping at Ocean Beach - absolutely wonderful!!!
having a fire and then falling asleep to the sound of the waves and...
day 3:...waking up to the sound of the waves and enjoying a nice refreshing swim in the sea!
next sportive ativity: rocking Henty Dune with our sandboards! It was really hard to keep the balance but still fun though ;)
and I have to admit: the guys did definetly better than us girls *lol*
afterwards of course another swim at Ocean Beach: it was so great there, it's about 30 km long and you're almost on your own!!!!!
back in the car to Nelson Falls: really beautful waterfalls, perfect for pictures in the middle of the rainforest <3
the drive itself was really stunning, you could see such a lot of diferent scenery: from huge mountains to great lakes, rainforest, meadows,...
and: almost no civilisation (just some really small villages for 300km), I didn't have any mobile reception for the whole roadtrip!!!
drive to the next campsite which we couldn't find so we ended up driving for hours in the darkness (it was so sad to see all the dead animals on the streets - we took care and only drove 40km/h!)
our place for the night: wildcamping next to a small village: it was freezing again, so I spent the night in the car (which is definetly less uncomfortable than a tent!!!)
day 4: visiting Mt. Field National Park: Russel Falls, another nice waterfall and walking around in the forest to see some of the tallest trees in the world after the Redwoods in California!)
then driving around, but without getting to any place, so we made our way back to Hobart where we arrived in the late afternoon and booked onto a campsite next to the water
day 5: drive to Frecynet National Park (with Sabrina, who we had picked up in Hobart!), which took us 3 hours, this time to see something of the East Coast after spending the other days in the western part of Tassie...
walking up the lookout at Wineglass Bay and then down to the bay itself, which is one of the top 10 beaches around the world!!!
I wasn't too much impressed to be honest, but you always see the pictures, when the weather is perfect and it was just too cloudy to get the perfect colours of the water... but still worth it going to!
our stay for the night: a campsite next to the ocean <3
day 6: swimming in the morning to wake up in the really chilly water xP but it was awesome!!!
afterwards the german girls and Mr. Norway went to explore some more of the park: a lighthouse and a great lookout towards wineglass bay and the coastline and then some wonderful little bays with turquoise and blue water and red rocks building up the shore...
at 12.45 unfortunately we had to drive back already to give the car back on time
last stop and one of the best parts of the whole trip: friendly beaches, a beach with really white sand and super blue and turquoise water - all of us were almost in tears, because we could only stop there for some minutes: we would have loved jus to stay there!! <3
16:00 back in Hobart ]]>

http://www.mymapblog.com/connie/06_12_09/Roadtrip/Devonport: Devoidport?!?!
not the best week, all the people seem to be pensioners, rather poor or Oxfam (who seems to have been to all the places just a few days before...) has already signed them up!
had a lot of confrontations with barking, angry dogs (...honestly almost every Australian household seems to have a dog - probably to get rid of us fundraisers ^^)
besides work: nothing really to do!
Devonport is the port of Tasmania, the Spirit of Tasmania arrives from Melbourne and the waterfront is nice, with a lighthouse and nice beaches and rugged cliffs... but that's it!!!

but Tassie is beautiful, very lush and green compared to what i've seen during the past few weeks!!!
9th of November: working?
As well as the rest of the week!
My itinerary for the day at the moment: go to the library (free internet ? ), do some shopping or sightseeing, work from 1-8, get home, make dinner ( I get really creative here, I just mix together with the things I have, and I have to say, that you can always eat it and it tastes good;) ? we even have a herb garden in the hostel, where I?m staying at the moment!) and hang around with the others
14th of November: early start at around 9. Went to Cataract Gorge with Sabrina. It?s a valley with a river flowing through and there?s a basin, where you can go swimming. There are nice walks and you get really cool views over the gorge!!! ? Tasmania is really lush and green, compared to the rest of Australia (what I?ve seen so far!)
15th of November: writing my blog, mails? chilling, it?s my only free day of the whole week (I work six days a week!!!)

http://www.mymapblog.com/connie/07_11_09/the_trip_goes_on~dot~dot~dot/Hobart: fundraising again!
I cought the plane just in time, I was really late, but I wanted to stay another hour in the library in the Internet! But everything worked out, I arrived in Hobart 2 ½ hours later and went to my hostel ?The pickled frog?. It?s a really cosy one, seemed to be an old pub, everything inside is out of wood, the walls, the floor, which makes it really comfy!
I explored the city, which consists of a waterfront (a harbour) and some shopping streets. Hobart is a really old city (for Australian standards!, around 1800), so it has really nice houses.
In the evening I got to know my colleagues and my team leader. Really nice people (fundraisers are always nice!) and we had nice chats at our backpackers bar!
3rd of November: first day of work!
I worked in front of Woolworths (one of the two big supermarkets here, besides Coles) at Sandy Bay. A really nice little part of Hobart, at the water of course as Hobart is build along a bay that leads into a river. It was nice, I had nice conversations and got a big sign up!
4th of November-7th of November: working
6th of November: Knock knock knocking on people?s door ;)
My first doing door knocking. It wasn?t even that bad, people are very friendly, even if they don?t want to donate!
In the Evening we went on a ghost tour. We walked around Battery Point, the oldest part of Hobart and listened to ghost stories. We took about 10 pictures at every spot we stopped at, in order to get one with a ghost on it, like a weird glimpse of light?
I have to say, that I really don?t believe in ghost at all, but the stories where really interesting! Some people got shots with some kind of light, which are considered to be ghosts and they really believed in it!
We entered some underground tunnels where we tried to find another ghost, unfortunately he was not willing to show himself, but some people felt a cold rush, which should have been him ^^.
In total it was really worth it, because we had a great tour guide, who made the stories sound true and who could tell them in a really exciting way! We came back at 12.30 after 3 hours of the tour and a long chat to the guide and I was soooooo happy to get to bed, because it had been a long day and I couldn?t stand anymore!
8th of November: Mt Wellington, ride to Launceston
That day we went to the highest mountain around Hobart, Mt Wellington, where we had an absolutely stunning view, I guess it was the best view I?ve had in Australia so far!
In the afternoon, we drove to Launnie, our next place for fundraising.

http://www.mymapblog.com/connie/02_11_09/fundraising_again!/Adelaide: Adelaide
I love Adelaide, it's so much better than Sydney, more open up
22nd -27th of Octobre: checking out the city and looking for work in cafes, restaurants and clothing stores
Meeting my friends from the other fundraising company; they were staying in the hostel just round the corner! Was great to see them again!
29th of October:
Glenelg: the most popular beach around Adelaide. I did a bike tour to it, I rode along a river which took me to another beach (which was very verlassen) and went along the coast to Glenelg. There?s a big shopping street, which leads directly to the beach and it?s a very crowed and busy place ?. I walked along the beach and enjoyed the wonderful warm weather (it was really hot to ride a bike though!). Unfortunately I had to give the bike back by 4.30, so I couldn?t go swimming, but that?s why I decided to come back the next day!
30th of Octobre: I finally managed to swim in the ocean at Glenelg. But of course today it was not that hot anymore and the water was rather chilly but really clear and refreshing. I found a wonderful little spot a bit further away from the crowded spot, it was a spot with rocks, that are close to the sea, so I had only about two metres between me and the water! That?s why I had to move about 3 times, because the waves were sometimes getting to my place and making me wet ;). It was funny though!
31st of Octobre: Halloween in Australia!
Not a big deal here, some people got dressed up, although still very nice and pretty, not in a shocking, scary way ;) Me and my friend Anna from Denmark (who I had met in Darwin before!) went to a bar where we had an appointment with two guys, that Anna had contacted via couch surfing, an organization where you can look for people who let you stay in there house for a couple of days for free in order to have a cultural experience. There are also people who just want to meet people from other countries and that?s how me met the guys. It was really nice, we talked a lot about Australia and Europe and watched a Superman entering the bar and witches walking around ;)
Later on, we walked along Hindill St to have a look at all the people. Just the moment when I told Anna, that we are definitely underdressed, but that this prevents us from being talked to from guys, two guys came to us, to invite us for a drink! It was hilarious ? Well, we denied the offer and went back to the hostel as we were very tired, but it was a fun night anyway!
1st of November: Sunday morning, which means it?s market time!
We (Anna and me) found a very nice market in front of a primary school, called Gille Street Market, where we had a look around. They had so many great clothes, all very vintage and designer clothes, and really cheap, but of course as a backpacker, you never have the space (and most of the time not the money, too ;) It was such pity, but I might come back, buy some stuff and sent some other stuff back to Germany!
I spent the afternoon taking the train to the coast, I simply decided at some station to get out, because the name Hallet Cove Beach sounded nice to me. I walked along the coast to the next beach, hopped on the train to the next station, hopped off, and got to the next beach. That was really interesting. I ended up at a really huge beach with white sand and then took the train back to the city!
There I bumped in to Courtney, my Californian roommate and we went to a lookout where we had a view over the lights of the city. We walked back along the river, which is a beautiful spot, because at night, the fountain is alighted!
I spent my last night with Anna and some other people. We went out on Hindley St and later on to the casino. It was huge and it was in fact my first time in one. I learned to play Roulette and Anna even tried to gain something, but in vain! We had more looks around and it was really interesting to watch other people playing!
