Hey Friends!
First of all -- this blog is amazing to let you leave comments without being a member -- that's always annoying. Secondly, YAY! THANK YOU FOR LEAVING COMMENTS AND VISITING! I miss you all, all, all. Even if I haven't seen you in years (DEREK!).
My title! Means: I like elephants. I went to Ayutthaya from Chiang Mai and I got to my hostel. It was a one person room and no air-conditioning. I thought that would have been fine. It was also hella scary, I arrived at night and it was basically a toolshed closet.
No not that bad, but it was worse arriving at night.
Anyway, the mosquitoes there were vicious and I tried to sleep (after getting bitten everywhere) with my hoodie on and my long yoga pants and socks to keep from getting bitten -- it was way too hot and noisy and I couldn't sleep. (Disclaimer: sorry if nothing makes sense I just spent 3 hours on a packed train and am delirious)
I ended up falling asleep sans socks and waking up thinking: "Mosquitoes lose!! No exposed skin!!" Until I realized that they bit through the thick skin of the soles of my feet and it was all swollen and they bit me thrice on one eye. I couldn't open it! I looked like I got in a fight!
Okay so the train coming up. One thing that I really enjoy/hate about thailand is the attention I get. I think it's because I'm a young asian girl and so I get a lot of unwanted attention from thai guys. And I'm pale for a thai girl (which they think I am) so I think that adds to the ting appeal. So here's a hate situation and then an enjoy situation.
Coming up to Ayutthaya some university boys in their uniforms got on the train. The seats are essentially two seaters an aisle and then another two seater. I was nearest to the window with music in the ears and one of the guys turns around (he's across the aisle) rests his head on his hand and stares at me. I look at him and he doesn't look away. Thai guys are (I realize) not afraid to be agressive with girls.
He tries to talk to me, I smile and pretend to look elsewhere -- my window! I've turned my whole body away from him and he still stares. It actually gets really hilarious at times and I want to laugh out loud -- but NO! That would encourage him. I don't really smile at him but the once or twice I give him the.. hey, this is getting enough smile -- it only encourages him. Anyway I go ask some backpackers something in English and I hope that he realizes I'm not thai and communication is a problem and back off but it gets him all more interested in getting my attention. He gives me brochures -- weird. yes. as a way of getting my attention. I say: What is it? thai guy: brochure.
Ting: Thanks! I will put it right here *in the garbage*
He buys a bottle of water for me on the train.. ahhh
enough attention! I want to be a wallflower so I go ask to sit with the backpackers.
Enjoy situation: Train coming to Bangkok (I'm here now) a guy looks me up and down and the train is packed ot the max we're all standing and gives his undefined
