Back in Perth

10.May 2010 - Perth

Back in Perth we had some relaxed days because the whole Esperance trip was in a way exhausting. We slept long in our cheap 6bed dorm and met the friend from the Outback tour, Charlie. We three understand each other very good and we were all happy to find such good travelmates. On sunday the 25th of april is ANZAC day in Australia. A honour day for all the men and women who died in a war, beginnign from the First World War. Much is closed, but not everything (especially not McDonalds) and so we three met our fourth travelmate, Sonja, another swiss :) All was very good and in the evening Esther and I went to a party around the corner. A looot of Aussie guys in suits ;) but also bad country music... During the next days we organised evertything and could hire a car on tuesday. 1400$ for four people was very good, also when we head to pay another 600$ to reduce the access of the insurance(Selbstbehalt) in case of an accident. We were very happy and went out for dinner (13$ for a steak)!
On wednsday the 28th we could get our car and had the first day of our West Coast Tour!!!

But one bitter drop we have. When we arrived at Europcar, there were good and bad news. The good news: the insurance was just 450$.
The bad news: We had an unexpected drop off fee that we can leave the car in Broome.... another 600$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We couldn't do anything against, we had already paid the car and were ready to leave. So we took the bitter sip... Our car is now (unfortunately) a sweet and nice Hyundai I30. A little bit too small for four people, their backpacks and food.... But we could manage all and are now on a great trip through the unexperienced west coast!!!!
