Natureworld and Richmond

17.January 2011 - Bicheno

Today we went to the Natureworld - a kind of zoo with the typical wildlife of Tasmania.
Firstly we surely went to the part with the Tasmanian devils. They look so quite and playing just like kittens. The park also had domestic animals like a pony, lamas, sheep and pigs. There was a hug cage (where you could walk into) with parrots, emus, a wombat, wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, possums and snakes. The terrains for all the species were quite large - the kangaroos even lived on the whole area. At 10 it was feeding time and all the kangaroos came and you could feed them and even pet them gently. It was again an amazing experience - even better as the last one.
Then the Devils got their "breakfast" - death animals from the road. The ranger explained that the devils eat everything - meat, bones and even fur. It sounds disgusting but so they are like a "Muellabfuhr".
Later we went to the kangaroos again and they got really "aufdringlich" (aber durch ein paar "aehnlicher" Genossen auf der Riedmuehle weiss ich solche Situationen ja zu haendeln :-))).
We spent nearly three hours at the park and enjoyed every minute.
Then we drove down the coast to Richmond. There we had a look around the town and his famous brigde (a bit like the Steinere Bruecke of Harburg). I went to the nice church there as well and after a little time on the river we drove further to Port Arthur.
On a lookout point a few ks before Port Arthur we had a stunning view over the Bay of the Pirates.
We then went to the historic site of Port Arthur and had a view over the area.
After a look at the White beach we park on a picnic area for the night (I thought I gonna save the money from the accommodation to spent it on the entrance to Port Arthur :-))))
