It was real problem to get a nice room in Melbourne. Every time I made a decision about a hostel it was already full book. What a damn shit. This got really on my nerves!
In the end I book my first and the last two nights and I ll see how I go for the others. The prices for just a dorm bed are also very expensive there - it s a nightmare. I am looking forward to go to cheap Thailand.
But back to where I am. Today it was again pouring down like hell and it had a heavy storm too.
We went to the city and then separated our ways because I wanted to go to a museum and Chrissy not.
So first I went to see the park around the museum (just a small glimpse because the wind made the rain even worse). Then I discovered that the museum was closed due to renovation activities, so I went to the a part of the cataract gorge. Before I reached the gorge I saw a sweet factory and decided to take the chance to get out of the rain.
Lucky me they just stared a presentation about how the make their home made pralines. It was very interesting to watch (sure its about chocolate :-)) and we also got some chocolate to try :-))))).
In the end I bought a few of their pralines just to discover that they weren?t that good. If eaten much better ones before.
After a short look at the gorge I went back to the centre and met Chrissy again.
No one of the two of us wanted to spent more time walking in the rain and storm so we decided to head north to have a look at the lavender farm near Nabawla.
The drive to there was nice despite of the rain. When we reached the farm we saw all the fields off purple flowers - unfortunately already ?dropped down? by the rain. It was still nice to look and we strolled around the shop there had there.
We also had to continue with our ?tasting?, so we got some lavender ice cream. Chrissy the plain lavender and I a mix of honey and lavender. I considered my as the better one :-).
After finishing we drove to Scottsdale to have a look at the Forest Eco Centre. It gives you interesting information about the forest of Tasmania. What trees they have there, what treats are there or how the plant the forest.
Because the rooms in the city were quite expensive we decided to go back in direction to Launceston to find something cheaper.
We took the main highway, just to discover that the road conditions were much worse then on the road we took to go to Scottsdale. Streams on the road, huge ?Pfuetzen? and just water everywhere. It was really brain dragging to drive there (maybe your wondering why its always me who drives the car - it?s really simple - if you are under 25 you have to pay nearly the double of the price to rent a car - and Chrissy is 22)
Later we had to learn that there weren?t a lot of town along our way to Launceston so we drove further down. We took a small road which leaded us directly through the random landscape and allowed us to catch sight off just gorges surroundings. Just perfect.
Near Campbell town we got on the main highway and checked out the town for accommodation. It was hopeless - a stupid single room was 65 Dollars!! (before we stayed in rooms for 30 Dollars!). Driving through the city we found a free camp ground and so I had to endure another night in the car.
This time I made my bed in the back of the car (Fuesse im Kofferraum und der Oberkoerper auf der Rueckbank - Komfort ist was anderes aber es war besser als auf dem Fordersitz).
