Quite early in the morning I had to check-out and walk to the Train Station to get on to the legendary Ghan!! My next destination: Alice Springs - the red Center. Bonnie, Dougald and the Kids would spent a few Days more in Darwin before the get back home.
With a short stop in Katherine I arrived Alice roughly 24hours after I left Darwin. The journey took me through some awesome seneries of Australia. Unfortunately I couldn´t get out and take a closer look :-)
In Alice Springs I had three days to spent before I would go on a real outback tour with sleeping under the stars and all that fancy stuff. I am sooo excited.
One the other evening I sat outside together with my room nighbours (two german ladys) and spoke the first time since I left home german. Well except the phone calls with mum :-) But it was quite strange, evene after such a short while.
During the days I took a closer look around the city. I also had to look for some good walking shoes as my blister wouldn´t allow me to wear thongs for long. So I bought some really expensive sandals ( because everything is expensive in Alice ) and even took part in a didgeridoo class. Well I tried. Short after beginning the sky went red and the power went off. There was a massiv sand storm with thunder and lighning and planty of rain. I couldn´t get back to my accomodation before the rain started, so I had to look for some cover at the next Shops. After a while I got finally back home and on my way I saw so many broken trees and one was right on the visitor center.
The storm was gone, but we still hadn´t got any power. The big problem was: it was getting darker and I had to have a shover and pack my backs for the next five days and I also had to recharge my battery back for my camera... and I had now power :-(
