First I went to the Capitol today, but I couldn't get in. The policemen didn't allow any food or drinks in the visitor's center though it was unbearably hot. So I went to the Library of Congress behind the capitol. When I entered the building, a man asked me if I wanted to join his free private tour because his friend worked in the library. Yeah, why not? :-)
His friend showed us (a group of eight other people and me) the whole building including Jefferson's books and the main reading hall.
The next stop was the Washington Monument where I had a tour ticket for 12 PM. I had bought it already half a year ago and could take some panorama shots from the observation windows in 152,5 m of height. I went on west and passed the Second Worldwar Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and the Memorial of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. When I headed north to the White House, I saw Mr. Netanjahu approaching together with loads of police cars.
Finally I went to the National Museum of Air and Space where I arrived about 03:30 PM. Fortunately the museum was open until 07:30 PM and not only until 05:30 PM as I thought. I watched a 3D Imax movie about the Hubble space telescope and in the remaining three hours I took photos in the museum. There are so many aircrafts to see, for instance jets and the plane of the Bros. Wright. The time wasn't enough so I had to rush a bit in the end. When I came out I could see a wonderful sunset above the Washington Monument and the illuminated Capitol building. That was a nice day!
